AirAsia A320 and AirAsia X A330 aircrafts are a regular sight in MAS Hangar 5 in KLIA. It seems that Hangar 5 has been reserved exclusively for AirAsia and AirAsia X at the expense of MAS.
MAS had to send its own aircraft B737-800 for maintenance to Hydrabad GMR (MRO JV between MAS and GMR) in India, which was one of the failed investment of MAS.
On 28-8-2013 MAS 737-800 (aircraft no: 9M-MLE) had to be sent to Hydrabad GMR where MAS had to involve pilots and crews, turn around time and, more importantly FUEL COST. MAS had to pay all all these unnecessary expenses. Yours is sure that if MAS is their own company, TUAN Azhari Dahlan and AJ wouldn’t have allowed AirAsia or AirAsia X to utilise Hangar 5.
This does not make economic sense unless AirAsia and AirAsia X are paying at rates that no other airline engineering departments could refuse. Is this the case here? If we were to go by AirAsia’s track record of owing airport taxes to the tune of RM125 million, which was paid in advance by its passengers, then it will be highly unlikely that AirAsia is paying above market rate for the maintenance works.
Why is the top management in MAS allowing such decisions to be made by Tuan Azhari Dahlan of Engineering Department at a time when AJ’s so-called Business Plan was to cut cost.?
For background information, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has been quoted to have said soon after the MAS-AirAsia share Swap was un-wound on 2-5-202 by YA Datuk Seri Najib, that AirAsia will NOT send its aircraft to MAS for maintenance. With the current development, we should just ignore him and his gang because SPINNING IS TALKING TO THEM.
Tuan Azhari Dahlan is the last remaining employee that was believed to be specially head hunted by the then top management of MAS comprised of AJ, En Mohamed Rashdan Yusof, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Datuk Kamarudin Meranun both from AirAsia.
En Mohamed Rashdan Yusof aka Danny, the whiz kid from Khazanah was the Deputy Group CEO or regularly referred to by AJ as his co-pilot. He was the former business partner of Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, the current MD of Khazanah, when they were both founded BinaFikir Sdn Bhd in 2002 HERE. Please read HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE.
BinaFikir Sdn Bhd was the consulting company that was specially commissioned by Tan Sri Md Nor Md Yusuf, the present chairman of MAS, to come out with the plan to save MAS. At the time of appointment BinaFikir Sdn Bhd, it was just incorporated for a month or so. Despite it was in its infancy, it came out with the brilliant idea of “Widespread Assets Un-Bundling” known as known as the famous WAU. Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof would like us to believe that MAS was saved by BinaFikir’s WAU! In 2008, MayBank was so impressed with its performance and bought it for RM8 million. The current status of BinaFikir is unknown. May be someone get help to enlighten us.
Tan Sri Tony Fernandes from AirAsia, AirAsia X, director of MAS until 2-5-2012 and EXCO MAS (after the inking of the notorious Mas-AirAsia share swap by Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar).
Datuk Kamarudin Meranun from AirAsia, AirAsia X and director and EXCO of MAS until 2-5-2012.
Tan Sri Azman Yahya of SCOMI fame, was also a member of EXCO of MAS, director of AirAsia and MAS. He did not seek re-election as direcotr of MAS in 2012. He is also director of Symphony House Bhd.
At that material time, the top management of MAS headed by AJ has the benefit of the advice of the like of Mr Shane Nollan of PlaneConsult, Mr Conors McMcarthy, the chairman of PlaneConsult and director of AirAsia and PlaneConsult, the world famous consulting firm that deal with low cost caarier. Aj should thank his lucky to have such brilliant personalities around him.
Under such circumstances, it boggles the mind why MAS was fine for RM10 million by MyCC for the notorious MAS-AirAsia share swap. Until this date, no one from MAS or Khazanah has the courage to defend the MAS-AirAsia share swap.
Two simple messages to Tan Sri Mokhtar, En Mohamed Rashdan Yusof, Tan Sri Md Nor Yusuf , En Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun:
YOUR COLLECTIVE SILENCE IS DEAFENING.
SILENCE IS NOT THE OPTION WHEN PUBLIC FUND IS INVOLVED!
The Parts 3 of the previous posting will be posted tomorrow. Thereafter, Part 4. Yours truly regret for the delay because of the ongoing trial in court.
