YB Tuan Wee Choo Keong [WANGSA MAJU] asks Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation to state what actions have been taken or will be taken against Venturepharm Asia Sdn Bhd or its directors for misleading the Ministry into believing that it was tied up with a company known as XLW Inc from USA, which was non-existent, to grant the Technofund for research into bio-feed totaling RM5.36 million and out of which RM RM2,264,800-00 had been paid to-date?

YB Tuan Wee Choo Keong [WANGSA MAJU] asks the Minister of Tourism to state why, and on what basis, was the first tender for the project to build the Malaysian Pavilion in Shanghai World Expo 2010, which Venturepharm Asia Sdn Bhd (Venturepharm), incorporated in August 2005, did not take part, was cancelled? AirAsia needs fund to reduce debts!

According to the Reuters report of 14 September 2009 …

“AirAsia is trying to raise fund of up to RM560 million by selling 400 million new shares via private placement to reduce its debts. Analysts in Malaysia said last month that AirAsia’s tight cash flow and high debt level was worrying given its commitment to fund aircraft deliveries. Last month it deferred the delivery of eight Airbus A320 aircrafts to 2014 from 2010, which analysts said signals potential over-capacity in the future.” Continue reading

Buka puasa at Rumah Anak Yatim Shifa in Taman P Ramlee, Setapak

I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Mak Tom for giving me the opportunity to attend the Buka Puasa Session on 06 September 2009 with the orphans at the Rumah Anak Yatim Shifa in Taman P. Ramlee, Setapak.

This is the second year as the MP for Wangsa Maju that I had the opportunity to attend the Buka Puasa Session with the girls, who are hospitable and well-mannered. This wellfare home caters for girls from the age of 3 to 15 years old. This orphanage also relies solely on public donations and help for its survival. Those who want to help in any way may contact Kak Tom at 017-3387959.

Malaysia's pavilion potentially invites another backlash by promoting Indonesian heritage in its design!

I reproduce below a comment by a reader of this blog called Choon who may be spot on with his observation …

“Recently, there was an Indonesian Student protest reported in the Star where rotten eggs were thrown at our embassy just because Discovery Channel used an Indonesian Bali dance to represent Malaysia. The Minister explained that this is discovery Channel’s mistake and not ours and Discovery channel has apologised. However, in spite of such experience, the Ministry of Tourism is still going ahead with the Indonesian Minagkabau design, therefore inviting another reason for such a protest and Ng Yen Yen  will not be able to get out of this as she still go ahead with such a design by foreigner inspite of having been warned that it is not Malaysian. This will harm Malaysia’s good reputation. One other thing I just cannot understand is why include a miniature golf course in the Malaysian Pavilion? Why Golf? Golf has no Malaysian identity and is not part of  the Malaysian culture! In fact if you need to add in a sports we are certainly better known for our Badminton achievements. Ng Yen Yen’s website showed there is “no comments” after her reports on expo’s matter. This is because she has rejected comments from viewers as efforts to make een very mild comments have been rejected.”

9th by-election is on the card!

The Bagan Pinang (Negeri Sembilan) assemblyman (BN), the late YB Azman Mohd Noor (55 years old), passed away this afternoon due to blood infection. During the last General Elections in March 2008, he won this seat with a majority of 2,333 votes.  Another by-election is on the way.  The nation is having by-elections fatigue.  Whatever the outcome of this by-election will not affect the political equation in Negeri Sembilan.
