Below are the TWO e-mails by En Ahmad Jauhari Yahya (AJ) Group CEO of MAS,wherein he announced the acceptance of the resignation of  his Deputy GCEO, En Mohamad Rashdan Yusof aka Danny (Rashdan), who is Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar (Amok)’s most trusted crony.

Of course, AJ was in great pains and can’t wait to express his heartfelt appreciation of his “great” deputy Rahsdan to MAS staffs. AJ sang with full of praises of the “GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS” of his deputy. The TWO e-mails were sent within a span of two hours. AJ thought that his defend of his “great” deputy in the first e-mail wasn’t good enough. Hence, the second e-mail with a bit more punch on the bloggers. So AJ thought!

By coincidence, AJ totally left out the several more notable Rashdan’s “GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS” as follows:

  • brokering the MAS-AirAsia share swap deal that was reversed by YAB PM, Datuk Seri Najib, on 2-5-2012;

  • sponsoring QPR home jersey costing MAS RM10 over million when MAS was supposed to be BLEEDING;

  • termination of Firefly’s profitable routes from JB to KK and Kuching;

  • termination of Firefly Jet Services;

  • termination of MAS profitable routes to Bandung and Surabaya;

  • upgrading of his maid and baby to First Class Cabin on MH122 on 1-1-2012; and many more.

Perhaps MAS staffs could help in listing down more of his other “GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS” beside the above.

Below is AJ’s FIRST e-mail sent out at 6:22 pm on 12-6-2012.

Subject: Circular from Group CEO: Resignation of Deputy Group CEO: Mohammed Rashdan Yusof

CIRCULAR FROM GROUP CEO

To:      All Staff system-wide

Date:  12 June 2012

Dear Colleagues

Resignation of Deputy Group CEO: Mohammed Rashdan Yusof

It is my difficult duty to inform you that today the Board of Malaysia Airlines accepted the notice of resignation of my deputy, Mohammed Rashdan Yusof (known to many of you as Danny). Having assisted in the recent Business and Funding Plan, Danny has decided that it is time for him to move on and pursue other interests.

Danny has agreed to remain in the Company and on the Board of Directors until 30 June 2012 to ensure a smooth handover and for seamless business continuity.

As many of you know, Danny was first appointed to the Board on 15 October 2010 as a Nominee Director from Khazanah Nasional Berhad (‘Khazanah’), and subsequently as an Executive Director on 9 August 2011 following the execution of the Comprehensive Collaboration Framework (‘CCF’). His initial secondment from Khazanah led to a full-time management position of Deputy Group CEO on 1 October 2011.

As Deputy GCEO, I would like to say that Danny has been instrumental in the formulation of our current Business Plan which was announced in December 2011. He has ably assisted me in the execution of key strategic levers of the Business Plan, the cessation of highly loss-making routes, as well as the low-cost carrier jet business unit. These strategic initiatives have recently shown positive results in our Q1/2012 earnings announcement, relative to the same quarter last year.

More recently, Danny spearheaded a special team by providing tremendous focus and steer to secure the Funding Plan which was announced on 22 May 2012. This Plan aims to raise RM9 billion to re-establish the Company on a fresh footing for our balance sheet to underwrite recovery efforts. This financing plan is based on three pillars which includes the issuance of up to RM2.5bil of a Perpetual Sukuk by June this year, the setting up of a funding special purpose vehicle (SPV) owned by Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc.) to raise RM5.3bil to pay for eight aircraft, and an aircraft loan facility of RM1.2bil to fund the capex for the remaining wide-body aircraft purchases in 2012.

At today’s Board meeting Chairman, Tan Sri Md Nor Yusof said, “Danny would be greatly missed by the Board and the Company. His contributions have been invaluable especially in ensuring that we remain viable in going through this tumultuous time. I regret that in past months, Danny has been most undeservedly and unfairly vilified and maligned in the blogosphere. Despite this tremendous pressure and stress, Danny has been deeply committed to the turnaround of our Company and the Board appreciates his commitment to continue to assist the Company whenever needed.”

As the Group CEO, it has been a pleasure to work with Danny. I will miss him greatly. I fondly remember the many days when we were burning the midnight oil together, executing the Business Plan initiatives, whilst having to ensure operational continuity. He was instrumental in our Business Plan, and its execution which is now showing positive operational results. He helped me to identify our new talents in the senior management team and assisted in their recruitment too.

At today’s meeting, the Board expressed serious concern over the rampant leakage of Company confidential information. I have instructed a major review of all information security protocols. We need to develop a staff culture that will ensure that the Company’s turnaround efforts are not undermined. We must realise our vision of being the preferred premium carrier and achieve sustainable profitability.

In closing, I warmly thank Danny for his leadership, contribution and friendship. I wish him and his family well in the future.

Sincerely

Ahmad Jauhari Yahya

Ends.

Yours truly was not too sure what AJ meant by the “..Rampant leakages of company confidential information”.  Most probably what AJ meant was the Voyage Report of MH122 on 1-1-2012, which has put his deputy Rashdan, the Amok’s most trusted crony, in a spot. In any event, such matter was not a problem at all for AJ, hence there was no disciplinary actions taken against Rashdan.

Could it be that the Re-Accommodation Agreement that AJ signed which gave special low fares to uplift the 35,000 AAX passengers? It shouldn’t be a problem too because AJ told MPs that MAS gained revenue from uplifting of the 35,000 AAX passengers.

Could it be that the appointments of Mr Shane Nollan and PlaneConsult that cost MAS million of Ringgit?  It shouldn’t be a problem too because Mr Shane Nollan only resigned end of May 2012. Yours truly is not aware whether PlaneConsult agreement has been terminated.

Could it be that the MAS giving up of the additional Sydney route for AirAsia X? It shouldn’t be a problem too because MAS has shown positive results in its Q1/2012 earnings.

So what is the problem AJ? are you scare of your own shadow?

It had to be the leakages through comments on blogsphere about his good deputy that has made AJ mad.

AJ also said that “Danny has been most undeservedly and unfairly vilified and maligned in the blogosphere.” From this statement, Rashdan, the Amok’s most trusted crony,  is a a victim of falsehood.  Perhaps MAS staffs can shed some light on the matter.

By the way, subsequent to the above announcement, AJ made another similar announcement (the SECOND e-mail) below on the same date but at 20:30 ( two hours later) on the same subject matter.

Those bold and underlined in red are the important points, which were added in AJ’s second e-mail two hours later.

AJ as the Group CEO of MAS, is just like captain in MAS, and if he kept on blowing with uncertain tunes how does he expect his troop to move and in which direction.

Credit must be given to Nor Zalida Ahamd, head of Strategic Comm, for doing a brilliant job to beef up Rahsdan’s “credibility”, if there is any

Was Rasdan vilified and maligned in blogshpere? or Aj was just an emperor’s apologist!

  1. AMAZED

    If it is true that Rashdan was maligned and villified in blogsphere, how come he or MAS did not for one SINGLE time issue a rebuttal or clarification statement? Surely with all his money and with the MAS machinery (including STRATEGIC Comms) behind him, Rashdan could have easily rebutted all the statements that allegedly “maligned and villified” him? Or could it be that he or AJ could not
    resort to rebuttals because the statements in blogsphere were all true? Any fool can tell you that in cyberspace, if you do not respond or react in 24 hours to anything written, you would have lost the opportunity to do so,and whatever is written , in all probability, will be taken as truth.So much for all the CON-sultants around, ini basic punya hal pun tak tahu nak handle ke? Instead, both these idiots choose to resort to witch-hunting and veiled threats and waste God-knows-how-much of MAS money trying to hunt down staff who leaked information. Hey,
    if things are done transparently with MAS best interests in mind, staff will not need to resort to the blogs. But as most staff who have attended any of the Townhalls or “engagement” sessions will confirm, all you get is BS when qerstions are asked. Why bother holding an “engagement” session in the first place, when there is absolutely nothing engaging or productive about it?
    Now, once again, either AJ or STRATEGIC Comms idiocy is once again proven with these two emails issued within two hours. My goodness, this simple communication also cannot get it right first time? And, BRAVO, does AJ think that these two emails will make things better or rebuild staff’s trust in him? Of course NOT! If anything, it will alienate staff further. Can’t he and the Comms people do anything right for once?

      the two emails make it obvious that they never think things over properly in everything they do – if even stuff like messages to staff also can be “reworded” so easily. what integrity are they talking about? what credibility?

    YB,

    Rashdan out, now for the rest of the BOD to be replaced by wise, knowledgeable & forthcoming new members. Hopefully with sufficient insight into this airline business vis-a-vis Malaysia’s geography & aviation needs with unquestionable integrity & foresight. This is the really hard part because only an able PM advised by a very good set of advisors can decide! There lies the quandry.

    If the remaining BOD is maintained, god help us.

    AJ must have been sleeping. In denial as well. Maklumlah orang tua nih with selective memory. He remembers the late nights with Danny on the business plans. Hey, I did the same in university burning the midnight oil writing a business plan, copying from the Internet, then presenting it to the world as an academic brilliance… not even worthy of an MBA! Sounds like the dynamic duo kan? The maid upgrader was so much bombarded in the Internet with CLEAR EVIDENCE of the voyage report and yet AJ and the bloody board says he’s without fault……..praises the lil guy some more! I just can’t imagine a group CEO can send out e-mail in such a manner when the facts are so clear that Nanny Danny is a hopeless case. nanny Danny can only survive in Khazanah as long as Tan Azman is around.

    A group CEO needed two e-mail to defend a useless bump. What hope has MAS got with such a CEO? A CEO a needed a half past six Nor Zalida to damage control for him.

    AJ just throw in the white flag. Your are a goner in MAS. No MAS will ever respect you. There was no need for you to defend Nanny Danny to such an extend when he was caught with the Voyage Report.

    The Board of Directors is a non starter any way. You have a bunch of idiots in there too. Hopeful they will disappear on 21 June after the MAS AGM.

    AJ is just a laughing stock for MAS. A real Gaji Buta. The CEO of the Panamera Deadwood Department.

    It will be very interesting from now onwards. Newspaper reports said that Rozman will be leaving MAS and rejoining AirAsia and Bernard Francis will also be rejoining Airasia. All this will be announced next Monday when TF reveals his management team from Asean and regional set ups.Those who left MAS with bitter feelings will definitely want sweet revenge. So MAS have to buckle up to show the world that they can turnaround without these so called brilliant people.

    It’s also interesting to note that whilst PM Najib had used his magical wand to instruct the unwinding of the share suap, he also said in the papers today that the CCF failed because there was no cooperation from the employees/unions. Oucchhh….that hurts PM. Now now, don’t you put the blame on the employees pulak.

    But my dear MAS management, please revisit your fares. They are high compared with other carriers. And your planes are not as new as your competitors. How many fly on the front end? Even most companies now have a policy for staff to travel economy class for flight less than 6 hours. I believe MAS senior management also practise the same. Even compared with other full service carriers, you fare is still high. Just like Tan Sri Aziz said in a newspaper report, the travel pattern has changed from the past 10-20 years ago. FSC must compete with LCC.

    My analogy is simple: How many actually do their grocery shopping at Mercato@Pavillion or Cold Storage? And how many flock the likes of Giant, Tesco, Carrefour? Even the rich go to these hypermarts because they get what they want. They may not be able to find a RM25 pack of cheese but they get a RM14 pack of cheese that tastes about the same. So, revisit Firefly’s operation. It used to give a good competition to Airasia. And MAS, please do improve on your customer service on the ground and in flight. Tolonglah jangan pilih bulu. Bila mat salleh je baru nak layan lebih2. The last I checked, a smile still doesn’t cost a thing even to fellow Malaysians.

      Agree. MAS fare is damn expensive. What really upset me is that MAS claimed they have new aircraft ie A380 for the London sector and because of that customer must be wiling to pay more. Well, i’ve got news to you AJ. Pay more my ASS!!! I rather use SQ or Emirates which has lower fare, better inflight entertainment, better food, better aircraft and more baggage allowance.
      To AJ and other MAS management, if you want to retain your customer, please be competitive. We do not expect a cheap fare but at least must be competitive with other premium airlines. Jangan syok sendiri !!!

    You are he same? You have not denied that you have gave up MAS Sydney route to AA X? You signed the RA with the lowest of the low fares never before in MAS history. You never denied that also.

    MAS sent out e-mail at midnight on 18-3-2012 to say that you have signed the RA when the RA was dated 28-3-2012. Don’t tell us that you and the Pariah signed the RA just past midnight!

    AJ should have been advised that retraction of an email that lengthy is a no-no, whether it’s within two hours or two days. The impression created is that AJ did not have a free hand in the messaging. Staff reading both will make comparisons. It seems like the Board chairman was not happy with the first email because the board’s endorsement of Danny and his “sterling” character and performance did not come across strong enough. Notice how that part was padded up in the second email ? AJ should have had the strength of conviction to stand by his first email. The Board sentiments can be expressed in another email which can be sent closer to the date of Danny’s actual departure. Poor AJ is not getting the right ‘strategic’ advice in messaging.

Tony also confirmed in his STAR interview he can now pick up the phone and call AJ anytime! For all these two idiot’s qualifications, they still fall hook, line and sinker to be conned by Malaysia’s biggest c.n-man.But we must not forget this c.n-man has many “powerful” people behind him or in his pocket, which he confirm when he told MAS staff “BRIBERY works in Malaysia”. Come on YB,no one is perfect in writing – so what’s the big deal? I do hope everyone will be happy now since Danny is out of MAS,so who is next? It appears no one can leave MAS alone,seriously as a public citizen,I have great pity on MAS.

    Enough of the bashingla,let’s move on and give these guys a break.They have been tormented enough since the episodes came to open, and as Malaysians,we need not behave so evil and cruel by bashing them too much.Don’t forget we and our famiies travel on MAS too,so think the good things MAS have done for us,connecting us all around and flying us safely to our destinations.

    After all,these guys were given the tasks by the Govt,so go shoot those fellas who may not see things clear enough.

    I kinda believed MAS will turn around again soon enough without anyone interefering. Just my humble opinion YB.

    Nanny Danny departure is good riddance to rubbish. He should not have been put into MAS but his master needed him to screw up MAS.

    Aj is another one. It was not about bad writing but brainless writing. Not fit to be the CEO. Memalukan MAS. AJ is most suitable to be appointed to any position in the Pariah;s airline. AJ has a low cost mentality more suitable for low cost airline and he can carry the pariah balls to the hilt and no one is going to complain about it.

    AJ please pack up and disappear let have a more uistable person to take on hte responsibility. Anyone will be better than AJ.

    AJ is the most disappointing CEO MAS ever had. His main objective was just to suck up to Nanny Danny and that Pariah. It is just incredible a man with no backbone. Shameless. Do you really need to praise that Nanny Danny to such height with two e-mails?

    Dear YB –

    I don’t get it… when a person is not wanted anymore, vilified, hated, loathed…(for whatever other reasons), why the heck do they still hang on to their post. Which brings me to the next question – as to HOW THE HECK DID THESE PEOPLE get their post in the first place… Did they apply for the job? Were they qualified enough?

    Seriously speaking ~ if you look at any other post (in MAS) ~ from the cleaners to the cabin crew and even the pilots – they all had to apply for the job and had to sit for the interviews to be employed. Qualified ? Yes… and they get the job… here instead we have directors that have no HEAD OR TAIL (clueless!) knowledge of aviation and travel industry experiences , and they get parachuted into a position with perks. How very nice…
