YB Tuan Wee Choo Keong [WANGSA MAJU] minta Menteri Kementerian Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri menyatakan perkembangan terkini kerja penyiasatan polis dan SPRM dalam cadangan-cadangan Suruhjaya Diraja akibat skandal video V.K. Lingam dan adakah dakwaan akan diambil terhadap pihak-pihak yang telah “ditangkap” dalam video tersebut?

YB Tuan Wee Choo Keong [WANGSA MAJU] asks the Minister of Home Affairs to state what is the current status of the investigations by the police or MACC into the several recommendations by the Royal Commission on the V.K. Lingam video clip scandal and will there be any prosecutions taken against those exposed in the said video clip?

Mr. Chairman,

On behalf of the Malaysia’s delegation, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you and all other members of the Bureau on your election and to also thank the Mr Soo-Guen Oh, the Chairman of United Nations Commission On International Trade Law, for his report.

Mr Chairman,

My delegation would like to express its full support to the work of United Nations Commission On International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) to seek further progress as regards the harmonization and unification of international trade law. As a member of a very highly regarded and important Commission, Malaysia would like to take the opportunity to contribute to the development of international trade law by, inter alia, promoting ways and means of ensuring a uniform application of international trade laws.

On 9^th October 2009, we were invited to attend a dinner function organised by The Malaysia Association of America (MAA) to celebrate its 25^th Anniversary and 52^nd Year of Independence of Malaysia. It was attended by about 800 Malaysians (many of whom have set up homes in New York) and some New Yorkers. I am proud to say that they are still very patriotic as we can see from the decors of the occasion with the “Wau Bulan” (kite) from Kelantan, the fashion show of Malaysian costumes with “kain songket” and the lion dance, which had the lion head decorated with a batek design – the first of its kind!

Thank you Mr. Chairman for granting to me the opportunity to address the Third Committe of the UN today on the subjects of Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice and International Drug Control. First and foremost, I would like to put on record that Malaysia is proud that you have been elected Chairman of the Third Committee of the UN.

Mr Chairman,

It is Malaysia’s position that investment by countries in their basic crime prevention efforts brings about benefits that can extend from the local to even the international level. However, as we expand the scope of this investment, continued international co-operation in the forms of exchange of information, capacity-building, technology-transfer as well as confidence-building measures need to be enhanced to allow countries to gain trust and capability. This will also allow countries to better integrate their work in more practical and operational aspects.

Here’s the spot where world leaders hold their press conferences

I arrived at New York on 04 October, 2009. YB Datuk Richard Riot Anak Jaem, MP for Serian (Sarawak); YB Abd Rahman Bin Bakri, MP for Sabak Bernam (Selangor) and YB Zulkifli Noordin, MP for Kulim Bandar (Kedah) also arrived yesterday. I was informed that YB Datuk Richard Riot and YB Zulkifli almost missed their connecting flight from Amsterdam to New York because the travel agent, Angkasa Travel, which was appointed by Parliament, did not make the necessary bookings for their connecting flight.
