YB Manikavasagam lodges a police report on the sand mining scandal

YB Manikavasagam, MP for Kapar, had been calling for an investigation into the sand mining scandal involving the officials in Kuala Semesta Sdn Bhd, which is wholly owned by Menteri Besar Incorporated, and Pakatan Rakyat high ranking elected representatives in Selangor but it fell on deaf ears for some time. In fact, this scandal had been and continue to be an open secret amongst the PR MPs and State Assemblymen for some time, too. The sand mining activities had been taking place in the Dengkil area.

It was due to the inertia of the Selangor State Government that prompted 12 PKR MPs to come out openly in support of YB Manikavasagam’s stand. The 12 MPs are YB Datuk Kamarul Baharain (Teluk Kemang), YB Mohd Yusmadi Mohd Yusoff (Balik Pulau), YB  Fuziah Salleh (Kuantan), YB Datuk Rashid Din (Merbok), YB Loh Gwo Burne (Kelana Jaya), YB Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid  (Kuala Langat), YB Ahmad Kasim (Kuala Kedah), YB Zuraida Kamaruddin (Ampang), YB Ab Aziz Ab Kadir (Ketereh), YB Amran Ab Ghani (Tanah Merah), YB Azan Ismail (Indera Makhota) and Wee Choo Keong (Wangsa Maju).

Obviously, these 12 MPs and YB Manikavasagam may face disciplinary actions by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leadership because by taking such a stand they may be accused of not showing enough “AFFECTION to the leaders”,  which is a very serious offence!

I am told that two high ranking elected representatives in the Selangor government  and several officials in the Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd were involved in this scandal which dealt with many millions of ringgit belonging to the people.

Instead of setting up an independent body to investigate this scandal, YAB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, Menteri  Besar of Selangor, saw it fit to openly challenge YB Manikavasagam to lodge a report with the authority. Taking up the Menteri Besar’s said challenge,  YB Manikavasagam had lodged a report this morning at Klang Police Station against the culprits under Klang Police Station Report No: 3598/10.

YB Lim Kit Siang’s constant demand for Royal Commissions to be set up to investigate into scandals sound very familiar to the ears. Surprisingly in this case, there had been no move or more screams by YB  Lim Kit Siang or the little napoleons in the PR to demand for  “COMPETENCY,  ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY” (also known as CAT) in this scandal. It would appear that “CAT” is a mere slogan to be wheeled out when it suits the PR leaders. Perhaps those little napoleons in the PR would like such scandals in the PR’s administration  to be covered up in the hope that all will be well.

I call upon the Menteri Besar of Selangor to publicly clarify who is the exco member in charge of sand mining in the State and what actions had been taken by the State Government concerning this scandal so far.
