menyatakan :

Bahawa memandangkan banyak agensi-agensi pelancongan yang ditutup (collapsed), sama ada Kementerian bercadang untuk mengeluarkan peraturan-peraturan untuk memaksa MATTA menyediakan tabung pampasan untuk dibayar semula kepada orang ramai yang telah membuat bayaran pendahuluan untuk tiket-tiket penerbangan dan pakej pelancongan di MATTA Travel Fair? Jika tidak, sila nyatakan sebab-sebabnya.

JAWAPAN

Tuan Yang di-Pertua,

Tiada peraturan yang khusus yang membolehkan Kementerian memaksa atau mengarahkan MATTA membayar kembali segala deposit yang telah dibayar oleh pembeli pakej yang ditipu oleh syarikat agensi pelancongan. Walaubagaimanapun Kementerian telah mengambil langkah dan inisiatif dengan menyelesaikan masalah yang timbul secara rundingan.

Sebagai contoh pada tahun 2010, Kementerian telah menyelesaikan sebanyak 152 daripada 192 aduan yang diterima melibatkan penipuan di kalangan agensi pelancongan kepada pelancong asing dan tempatan. Pada tahun 2010 satu (1) aduan diterima melibatkan pakej pelancongan yang dijual di MATTA Fair oleh syarikat pelancongan tetapi pelanggan yang membeli pakej ini tidak mendapat apa yang telah dijanjikan. Walaubagaimanapun, kes ini telah diselesaikan.

Pembeli juga dinasihatkan agar membawa kes ke Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna Malaysia (TTPM), Mahkamah Sivil ataupun membuat laporan polis jika terdapat unsur-unsur penipuan.

My question was so simple and so easy to understand. Yet the Ministry seemed to have problems in understanding it. Well, the answers provided showed that the Minister of Tourism is incapable of running the Ministry. The Ministry was not answering my questions at all. The fact that they are many cheating cases involving travel agents, the Ministry should be mindful to impose new regulations to prevent such cases from happening in the future. It seems that the Ministry prefer to solve problems rather than to prevent problems from happening.

It was most shameful for the Minister to state that there was no provision to force Matta to compensate those who have been cheated travel agents. What I asking was whether the Ministry of Tourism intends to impose new regulation to make Matta to provide compensation fund to compensate those who have been cheated. The Minister was incapable of understanding and/or answering simple question. No wonder the Ministry is in such mess.

According to the Sun report today (14-03-2011) the MACC officers raided the Ministry of Tourism because of tender procedures. However, the Minister of Tourism denied about the raid, in HERE.
