Today (19 June 2011) was the official opening ceremony of the Persatuan Penduduk Taman Setapak, Wangsa Maju. It was officially opened by YB Senator Datuk Maglin, the Deputy Minister of Information, Multi-Media and Culture. The Ministry distributed 1Malaysia notebook computers and books to several students.
The President of the Persatuan, Yg Bhg Datuk Latifah Bte Mohd Arifhah, has requested for four signboards to be put up by DBKL for Taman Setapak (one of which has been put by DBKL), a traffic light at the junction of Jalan Balau, approval for a pasar malam in the area and bus services.
I have informed the meeting that I shall attend to their requests. DBKL has greed to put up the remaining 3 signboards and installation of traffic light. I have contacted the management of Rapid KL and the management is looking into the matter. As for the pasar malam, previously there were objections from the residents. However, I will try my best to assist in the pasar malam issue. If all is well with the residents, the operator of the pasar malam must be appointed in a transparent manner.
I would like to thank the Persatuan for inviting me to attend its open ceremony.
