Note:

The Ministry of Finance was supposed to provide the above answer during the Parliamentary Session in March 2009 but it was only given to me only on 15 April 2009.

It was strange that EPF was buying more Air Asia shares than selling them. It was equally strange that EPF chose to invest in Air Asia in a big way when Air Asia has no long standing track records or good track records for that matter.

It would be interesting for us to know at what prices EPF bought the said Air Asia shares.

It would appear that EPF is the single largest shareholder in Air Asia. I am sure that we all would like to know whether EPF is getting returns from the Air Asia shares.

I will table questions in the next sitting of Parliament on what basis EPF has invested such a big sum in Air Asia, what were the prices that EPF bought the Air Asia shares and what were the returns EPF has received from Air Asia. It must be noted that the former Deputy Minister of Finance, Tan Sri Mohd Nor Yakop, is a good friend of  Datuk Tony Fernandes, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Air Asia.

Nota:
