Day 2 to 7 have been filled with conflicting statements from DCA chief and Group CEO of MAS. There were more questions than answers during these agonising 5 days.
Today YAB PM Datuk Seri Najib had a press conference at about 2:25 pm today. He said in no uncertain terms that someone in the plane has deliberately switched off the communication system of the aircraft (presumably the transponder) after MH370 entered into the airspace of Vietnam. The PM stopped short of stating that the flight MH 370 was hijacked.
The PM has also said that Malaysian government has stopped its its search and rescue (SAR) operation in the South China Sea and moved its assets to the northern and southern corridors (i.e. from Kazakhstan down to Northern Thailand and Indonesia to South Indian Ocean).
He also said that there are 14 countries, 43 ships and 58 aircraft are involved in the SAR. “I wish to thank all the governments for their help at such a crucial time” said PM.
It has been reported that Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the Captain of flight MH 370, has a flight simulator at home. The Group CEO of MAS, En Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, has said that a pilot is entitled to have a simulator at home, HERE.
It was reported in by the newspapers that soon after PM’s press conference this afternoon the police has gone to the house of Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the pilot of MH370. There was no release of the detail of the visit by the police.
