It took MAS 10 hours to hold a press conference to announce that MH 370 was missing.  MAS could have easily ascertained the status of MH 370 when it did not arrive in Beijing at 6:30 am 8-3-2014 as scheduled.  Further, MH 730 has fuel to fly up to about 8:30 am.  By 9:00 am, if not earlier, MAS should have been able to make a public announcement that MH 370 was missing but MAS chose to drag its feet until 12 noon.

En Ahmad Jauhari Yahya (AJ), MAS Group CEO, categorically said in his 12 noon press conference of 8-3-2014 (after 10 hours when it knew that Subang ATC lost contact with MH 370) that “Malaysia Airlines confirms that flight MH370 had lost contact with Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40am, today.”, HERE.

The 4th Media Statement of MAS confirmed that “Earlier today, Subang ATC had lost contact with the aircraft at”, HERE.

During such critical time, MAS can’t even get the correct data/time when did MH 370 lost contact with Subang Air traffic Control (ATC) 1:30 am or 2:40 am on 8-3-2014.

After a good long 14 hours, MAS came out out with its 6th Media Statement at 2:00 am Sunday morning which was published in its website  Please see below:

Sunday, March 09, 02:00 AM MYT +0800 Malaysia Airlines MH370 Flight Incident – 6th Media Statement

Sepang, 9 March 2014: Malaysia Airlines humbly asks all Malaysians and people around the world to pray for flight MH370.

It has been more than 24 hours since we last heard from MH370 at 1.30 am. The search and rescue team is yet to determine the whereabouts of the Boeing 777-200 aircraft.

An international search and rescue mission from Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam was mobilized yesterday morning. At this stage, they have failed to find evidence of any wreckage. The sea mission will continue overnight while the air mission will recommence at daylight.

We are dispatching all information as and when we receive it. The situation in Beijing is also being monitored closely. As many families of passengers are in China, we have deployed our “Go Team” to Beijing with a team of caregivers and volunteers to assist the family members of the passengers.

Once the whereabouts of the aircraft is determined, Malaysia Airlines will fly members of the family to the location. Travel arrangements and expenses of immediate family members will be borne by Malaysia Airlines.

Our sole priority now is to provide all assistance to the families of the passengers and our staff. We are also working closely with the concerned authorities in the search and rescue operation

The families may contact +603 7884 1234 (Kuala Lumpur) / +8610 6437 6249 (Beijing)

For media queries, kindly contact +603 8777 5698/ +603 8787 1276.

There will be a press conference at Sama Sama Hotel at 9.00 am today 9 March 2014 by DCA.

MAS 6th Media Statement from its Website, HERE.

How could the members of the public trust MAS when it could not get the timing correct when MH 370 lost contact with Subang ATC  on 8-3-2014?

Yours truly hopes that MAS will inform members of the public and world what was the exact time when Subang ATC lost contact with MH 370 in its next press conference.

    From my understanding
    1. The Vietnam Airport Authorities acknowledged the plane entered its airspace at 1:30am before subsequently losing contact which now under the Vietnam responsibilities
    2. The DCA received the call that the MH370 when missing from radar at 2:40am after verified with all possible communication from ATC (Malaysia and other countries), other planese using the emergency radio.

Even with the eight Hollywood and Bollywood in MAS, they can’t even get the data right. The leadership in MAS is an embarrassment to the nation. AJ should stop giving press conference because he can’t get the simple facts right. Before he screwed up further and causing more embarrassment, it is better for him to shut his mouth. The media man Najmudin is no better. If he is any good, such obvious mistake would not have happened. The Government should look into this matter. Get more competent people to manage MAS.

Please don’t blame AJ or his Spin Doctor Naj. Both are as clueless as before otherwise there will not be coming out with such discrepancies when information is available on records of DCA.

in the mean time, lets pray hard for the passengers and crew of MH 370.
