Beware of people posing as TNB workers or contractors

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) — Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has advised the public to be wary of those posing as TNB workers or contractors.

In a statement in Kuala Lumpur, Friday, it said a TNB staff or contractor was obliged to wear a uniform (red T-shirt, blue jacket with logo and name) while carrying out an official task.

“They (TNB staff) can only inspect the meter, outside the house. They are not allowed to make any inspection on electrical wiring inside the premises because that is beyond TNB’s jurisdiction,” it said.

The statement reminded the public that a TNB staff should produce his authority card which contained his photograph and identity card number, as well as employee number, before inspecting the meter.

It was reported Thursday that a man had impersonated a TNB officer to enter the house of a senior citizen and robbed the victim, on the pretext of inspecting electrical equipment.

Similar modus operandi in Ipoh. Happened to me personally, a man n a woman approach my home n ask to inspect meter in order to update latest date n they had my address printed on a piece of paper utilising SAP logo. I was suspicious n asked for ID which they cannot produce, company name which they could not answer n I took that sheet of paper n called TNB to verify which TNB denied. They left eventually but I made a call to police station to check their car registration number n told them that these might be robbers in disguise n hope other dont become a victim. That was 2 weeks back,

The TNB’s press statement has showed that TNB is a responsible GLC. Hopefully other GLCs should follow suit.

Dear YB, so glad to see that you are still in action. Thank you! Before GE13, I was hoping that PM will appoint you as senator so that you can still be in parliament. After the “Tsunami Cina”, I really dont know what to think as I feel betrayed by all my chinese friends. Probably they are just chinese acquaintances. Whatever it is, I admired your work and your sincereity before & I believe you have not changed. So I hope you will continue with your work YB.
