“Timeliness and a concrete black and white commitment on fixed airport charges in the new low-cost carrier terminal is needed to cool down the ongoing tension between AirAsia Chief Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), says Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.
The chairman of AirAsia X, the long-haul unit of AirAsia, said the no-frills airline was seeking two concrete commitments from the airport operator, first on when the new airport would be ready for operations and second, that airport charges would not be raised once the new terminal is ready.”
Full Bernama report in HERE.
For a start, there is no tension between MAHB and other airlines that use KLIA or LCCT. The tension was engineered by Tan Sri Tony Fernandez (Tony) as can be seen in HERE.
There is there is no need for MAHB to lower itself to entertain such an ill-thought out request to “COOL DOWN THE TENSION”. It was a well known fact that Tony started to fire the first salvo against MAHB for the increase of Airport Tax. The AirAsia campaign against the increase in airport tax was, of course, widely publicised in the Star, in HERE, HERE, HERE.
No other airlines have questioned the cost of airport taxes or charges imposed by MAHB. Similarly, no airlines in the world have ever questioned the airport charges imposed by the Airport Authorities in other countries that they fly to.
Similarly, no airline in the world aviation history has the privilege to owe airport tax for a few months let alone for years except AirAsia. No airline in the world was allowed to owe airport tax for years and allowed to land and use the airport facilities with impunity. No airline in the world was accorded with a good 30% or more discount when paying up long overdue airport tax debts except AirAsia.
Just for the record, several years ago a Terengganu state government owned airline was denied airport facilities when it owed a few months airport charges to MAHB. The said airline had to close shop thereafter. But in the case of AirAsia, at that material time MAHB had to close its eyes on AirAsia’s airport tax and airport charge debts and of course, the little Napoleons in Khazanah was never “AWARE” of this glaring fact. So ALL is well!
On 1-12-2009, the Deputy Minister of Transport told yours truly Parliament during Questions Time that AirAsia’s Airport Tax debts from 2002 to 2008 stood at RM132.1 million. After yours truly relentless pursue this issue in Parliament, AirAsia had to pay up.
However, MAHB had to give a discount of RM25 million to AirAsia in 2009 as “INCENTIVE” when it was supposed to charge interest as the Airport Taxes were paid in cash and in advance by passengers. AirAsia is just a collecting agent for MAHB!
The RM25 million discount was broken into RM21 million for AirAsia and RM4 million for AirAsia X Sdn Bhd, in HERE.
By right the Rm25 million discount on the Airport Tax debts should be refunded to the passengers/public and not awarding to AirAsia as a “DISCOUNT INCENTIVE”!
Isn’t it strange that Khazanah being the biggest shareholder in MAHB and the controlling body of all GLCs, was oblivious of such a huge debt for so many years and it did not instruct MAHB to take actions on the Airport Tax debts for so may years. The Government should investigate into this scandal that lasted so many years and take the necessary actions against those little Napoleons in Khazanah for their “WILLFUL BLINDNESS” on such glaring debts.
“Price sensitive Tony Fernandes had been very vocal on the rising cost of the new airport, in fear of the extra cost to be passed to AirAsia, the biggest tenant at KLIA2.
To this, Rafidah said two-way effective communication was important in the aviation business, and in this case, involved the airport operator and AirAsia, said YB Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz in the same news report by Bernama.”
Yours truly would like to remind YB Tan Sri Rafidah that the airport charges in our LCCT is the lowest in the region except Jakarta.
Below are the airport charges imposed by the airport authorities in the region:
-
KL RM65
-
Singapore RM68
-
Hong Kong RM73
-
Jakarta RM54
-
Bangkok RM79
For posting on this matter please read “Another poor attempt at spinning”.
Tony has been going after MAHB on airport tax/charges for quiet sometime and it was stepped after the failed MAS-AirAsia share swap late last year. It seems that now YB Tan Sri Rafidah has jumped on the band wagon to put exert undue pressure against MAHB in the hope that MAHB will “kow tow” to Tony’s demand.
Before we go any further, may yours truly ask for a moment why AirAsia never talked about reducing its fares and the ancillary charges or hidden charges imposed. For example manual counter check in RM10, processing fees, service fees and etc. See below for all the Airasia’s hidden charges:

Please read “Rashdan: Do you know about the Rm50 ancillary charges imposed by the so-called “No Frills” AirAsia”.
You will recall that the Australian Authority has taken actions against AirAsia for misleading pricing in HERE. It would be interesting to know the outcome of the action by the Australian Authority. Since 2004 similar complaints have been lodged with Ministry of Consumer Affairs, in HERE.
Even if, MAHB were to reduce the airport charges, yours truly doubt it will be translated into a saving for the passengers. Just look at the case in point, where MAS terminated its Bandung route and AirAsia enjoys the monopoly for this route immediately increase another flight taking over the slot by MAS. Did AirAsia reduce its fare to Bandung? The answer is NO. On the contrary, the AirAsia fare to Bandung has doubled since MAS gave up Bandung!
To Tony and YB Tan Sri Rafidah: Charity begins at home. Stop the nonsense of asking MAHB to reduce the airport charges just to suit AiraAsia business model! Stop bullying MAHB, the 4th Floor reign during the Sleepy Era in Malaysia was all over many years ago. If not, the one sided MAS-AirAsia share swap wouldn’t have been reversed!
YB Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz, the chairman of AirAsia X SdnBhd, should look serious consider terminating the Re-Accommodation Agreement with MAS to uplift 35,000 of its passengers at below market fares in order to show AirAsia/AirAsia X Sdn Bhd sincerity is in wanting to sever ties with MAS.
Tony and Tan Sri Rafidah should also make the similar demand to all airport in foreign countries where AirAsia/AirAsia X use to sign a legal document to state that they will not increase airport charges for a specific period just to protect AirAsia/Airasia X business business model. Perhaps Tony and/or YB Tan Sri Rafidah should start with country nearer to home, Singapore. Lets see what is the respond from Singapore Airport Authority.
AirAsia/AirAsia X should not try in Jakarta as it has proven to be futile and it will cause unnecessary inconveniences to its passengers because Indonesia authority will not play ball with them as shown in HERE.
Singapore Airport Authority will be a good try for AirAsia/AirAsia X. May be luck will be on AirAsia/AirAsia X side!
Until AirAsia/AirAsia X dare to make similar demand to other airport auhtorities, MAHB should just ignore all the demands made by them. MAHB don’t waste your time. Just provide good service to all passengers in KLIA and the future KLIA-2 with good facilities like aerobridge.
Furthermore, AirAsia has already declared that they are not going to move to KLIA-2!
AirAsia should make the demand in Thailand, China, Australia and India. Ask these countries to give it a guarantee that there will be no increase in airport charges. What a Low Caste Airline!
It seems that Malaysians owe AirAsia/AirAsia/TF a living! If they don’t want to use the KLIA-2 just close down the LCCT when KLIA-2 is operational. As simple as that. The Pariah can go to Indonesia, Thailand for that matter. We can afford a spoil brat in Malaysia. They got away with many things during the Slumber Jack days and they still think that they could do the same now.
They tested the nation with the share SUAP and MAS staffs showed them the “tow fingers”. Now MAS is left with the Botak Azhari and Nor Zalida Ahmad, who is very quiet of late. I wonder why the Strategic Comm is so quiet?
What about Nor Zalida?
Irrelevant for this discussion lah!
Somebody also trying to make MAS a Low Caste Airline here
http://mastroubleshooters.blogspot.com/2012/07/press-statement-by-tan-sri-abdul-aziz.html
A psyncophantic online “alternative” publications has glorified Air Asia’s purchase of Batavia Air in Indonesia where they come up against aggressive competition from Indonesia’s other low-cost carriers.
Now let’s see how this pans out and whether Tony can throw his tantrums to get his way, especially from Indonesia’s airport authorities.
I was sickened by how the media hyped up Tony Fernandez & Air Asia, as if its achievements were all due to its own efforts and as if it was not a beneficiary of political pressure.
Among certain Malaysians, especially those who are anti-establishment, Air Asia is seen as some kind of proxy in the fight against the government represented by MAS as proxy in their view.
These idiots also see the likes of Jeremy Clarkson as some kind of proxy for his bashing up a Perodua Kelisa he just purchased and drove off, then bashed it up in view of the salesmen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOnW854fk5Y
What these idiots don’t seem to realise is that Jeremy Clarkson produces videos of him smashing up lots of different cars and disparaging Korean, American, Russian, etc cars and drivers.
This guy reflects a racist, chauvanistic attitude of a national of a country whose own, once reasonably respectable, automotive industry has now decline, having been displaced by the cars he disparages and smashes.
Why the BBC or his publication TopGear is willing to pay thousands of pounds for him to smash up new cars is a wonder and the supposed popularity of his shows reflects a society in decline and Britain is a nation in decline, having lost much of its manufacturing base.
Here are his other videos.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSxqEwX_r6I&feature=related
Yet these dumb, disaffected Malaysians see Jeremy Clark as a “hero” in the fight against the government, represented by Perodua and Proton.
It’s the same with this Tony Fernandez worship.

One should not the take Top Gear Program

a nobody- not a mechanical engineer or a

as a serial adulterer than an expert on cars.
.
My take on him is- he is on the take from a
a german car company about whose cars he always
give favourable comment.
.
If you had been following the series, JK would give favourable
reports on the British crap-the land Rover which incidentally
made news this few days. The most unreliable brand in the

kelisa is backed by Toyota- The world’s largets car company

Do you think a jaguar or a Land Rover can still start

Probably not.

This is respectable. Try do that with a Jaguar and see

Anyway Top geaR IS NOT a technical program. Its

Look at the shows -very few young men were present
in their shows.
It would not be fair to conclude anything serious on

Three guys in the program represent the make up of

England is a racist country but the gomen/courts

“One should not the take Top Gear Program as a serious car review. Look Jeremy is a nobody- not a mechanical engineer or a technical guy. He is just a celebrity person on TV. He is known more as a serial adult.. than an expert on cars.” —–
Any right thinking person won’t take Jeremy Clarkson’s programme Top Gear seriously but when his stunt with the Kelisa was criticised in Malaysia’s parliament – i.e. Malaysian MPs took him seriously, many anti-establishment Malaysians started to repost mentions accounts of Clarkson smashing up a Kelisa and his comments uncritically, as if it delighted their dislike of things Malaysian or for the BN government.
While there are many valid reasons for public dissatisfaction with Malaysians cars, especially Proton – such as reported auto wind windows, the cars are generally quite reliable, spare parts are abundantly available and affordable, almost all mechanics can repair it and it retains its resale value.
My major grievance over the national car project is that it resulted in driving up all car prices to about three times what they were before Proton came out.
In 1980, a 1.3 litre car such as a Ford Escort cost about RM14,000, while a Toyota Corolla & Nissan Sunny were around RM17,000 – RM20,000, a 1.5 litre Fiat Ritmo around RM15,500 but after Proton came out and import duties on foreign cars – even locally assembled ones were driven up above the price of a Proton, which was more expensive than that of a locally assembled foreign car.
Where the standard car loan repayment period was three years shortly before Proton came out, it was driven up to seven years after Proton came out. Thus cars became less affordable for Malaysians, whose income levels had not risen correspondingly.
However also contributing to car price rises in the 1980s was the increase in the exchange rate of the Japanese Yen, which has made Japanese cars much more expensive, in places like Thailand, though about RM10,000 lower than in Malaysia, so we can’t just blame higher import duties/tariffs for the rise in prices of Malaysian cars.
Back to topic, just as Jeremy Clarkson can’t be taken seriously, neither can Tony Fernandez.
AA should stop all the hidden charges before taking on MAHB. The Pariah just wanted to control MAHB.
Lets chase the Pariah to Indonesia so that he can make all his demands there and see wheter the Indonesia authorities will entertain him.
Well, the Pariah tested the patient of the Indonesia Airport Authority and it had responded with grounding 3 of AA flights. Syabas. Good for the Indonesian!
MAHB against AA/AAX??? haha what a joke! They hv no balls! Even if they do, The F..er is holding them!
Shame on you MAHB!
Why don’t we start a campaign too- “Say No to Sissy MAHB”
Penakut lah lu MAHB!
:Do not blame tony F alone in the
way things have gooe badly at Mas.

I am not a fan of TF, but why are we are all cursing TF. IS HE THE REAL CULPRIT?
Who gave him the opportunity to rape MAS?
Who is doing his bidding to sodomise MAS now?
The person who gave him the green light for the CCF is the real culprit!
Those in the current management that is doing his bidding to rape and sodomise MAS are the real culprits!
TF is a business man (unscrupulous…maybe) – period.
Like any other business man, he will grab the opportunity to make money,
and he did say that he is here to make money. He doesn抰 care who gets hurt.
Those that should have cared are the PM, BOD and AJ and the various ministries and regulatory commissions and government watchdogs.
No use calling him pariah and all other names as the real pariahs are those
that should have cared about MAS but did not do so, and the irony is that they are our own people?
Do you all realise one very common factor here!
All those people that have screwed up MAS over the years have one very common factor- Melayu.
All those people doing TF bidding now to destroy MAS have one very common factor- Melayu.
The majority of the staff in MAS are melayu, and we are being screwed up by our own kind.
Sekarang siapa lah pariah yang sebenarnya, TF or management kita sendiri !
Selamat berpuasa dan di bulan Ramadan ni, sembayang la dengan sesungguh dan
sekeras kerasnya supayah tuhan membuka mata mereka mereka ni,
I echo your thoughts 100%, and have posted in this blog before on the where the real rot really lies – inside MAS itself. Our own house is in a shambles, but we look for scapegoats to vent our anger and hatred on, even using foul and rascist language to run down TF and the rest. It doesn’t matter what race you are, if you have the will and wits to want to succeed, by fair means or foul, so what? That’s business, nothing personal. The Share Swap and collaboration happened because the state of MAS then allowed it to happen. Fine, so now the Share Swap is cancelled, more than two months ago, do we see MAS in turbo-charged fifth gear to get things “fixed”? Of course not. The same bureaucratic, take-your-own-sweet-time attitude, the same politicking, the same MINDSET, still continues. The collective leadership is, at best, mediocre. As for AJ, there is enough seen and said for all to form their own conclusions.Let us all ponder, deeply.
I do agree with you, YB! AA is too much.
A fool flatters himself, a wise woman flatters the fool!!! Hahahaha!!
ehmm.. pseudechis is what TF is, so kill it before it kill us!
My apology don’t mean to kill anybody just an expression of discomfort being to endure other people arogant and selfishness.. in the enviroment of business.

Press Statement
Press Statement By Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman,
Former Managing Director of Malaysia Airline System
23 July 2012
“In the interest of the good name of our National Carrier and also the Nation, I suggest that colours of the Logo and livery on the A380 aircraft be reverted to the airline’s original colours as soon as possible, before it is too late.”
The colours of the Logo and the Livery of the MAS A380 aircraft are outrageously wrong. They are wrong for at least two main reasons.
Firstly, the new colours have deviated from the original tradition and objective of the official colours of the national carrier. The colour of the logo has ignored the original tradition and history of the creation of the logo.
The original colour of the logo was red depicting one of the prominent colours of our Flag – the Jalur Gemilang as MAS is the country’s Flag Carrier. Later, dark blue colour was added as one of the main colours of our flag. All these were chosen and approved by the government and in particular YAB Tun Abdul Razak. The airline operated throughout the periods of all the Prime Ministers in those colours.
The latest Prime Minister that approved the logo was Tun Mahathir Mohamad. I remember going to see him with the designer Encik Johan to get his blessing. He was the one who suggested that the Logo on the tail of the aircraft be tilted slightly to give the aerodynamic look.
Secondly, the new different colour of the Logo is in conflict with the basic principle of branding in business. It portrays the image of confusion among the consumers and reflects badly on the management. No business organization would do such a thing.
Furthermore, in this case the A380 aircraft will be flying all over the world. It will create a bad image for our National Carrier.
In the interest of the good name of our National Carrier and also the Nation, I suggest that colours of the Logo and livery on the A380 aircraft be reverted to the airline’s original colours as soon as possible, before it is too late.
In this regard, I think the government should investigate to find out as to who had decided on the new colours without sound reasoning and direct the management accordingly.
Signed,
Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Rahman

A desperate woman trying to please her paymaster without thinking. She thought that the whole nation owed her paymaster a living. It was shameful of an educated person to sell her soul.
AirAsia is not indispensable. Please go to Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries. Just try to dictate terms to the authorities. For a start, just ask the authorities to built a RM100,000 runaway and tell them can AirAsia owe airport for just 5 ears and then get a good 30% incentive discount when paying?
MAHB cannot be made to dance to the tune set by the pariah. He can’t blow hot and cold at the same time.
MAHB cannot do everything to accommodate the Pariah’s business model at the expense of the passengers/public. How can an airline demanded for a new airport to be built without aerobridge when aerobridge is not only for the convenience of the passengers who are children, pregnant women, handicap and the elderly but for the passengers safety of not having to walk on the tarmac.
The Pariah had already made in known that they are not going to move to KLIA-2 when it is operational so why was Rafidah asking MAHB to kow tow to the Pariah or to please the Pariah. Who is he? Just another operator that relied on the patronage of the Slumber Jack.
Let him go to Jakarta to try his luck and make all the demands. Hopefully he can demand a new airport in Jakarta to built for him and operated by him!
Let him ask the Jakarta authority to let him set his own airport charges and airport tax.
Kak Pidah Nyanyuk, when you were in MITI, did you practise giving the commitment as to how long it would take the MIDA building tobe constructed and ready for occupancy?
Tell us, tell us….. walk your talk…..before we call you names.
The moment AA fail to pay airport tax by minimum rm 1, MAHB should stop AA flight from flying. This will make passenger angry for delay flight and AA for sure will pay ASAP. If Indonesia BEA and CUKAI dept can do, why not MAHB? MAHB can avoid giving 25million discount for delay payment. MAHB is different from Police Traffic where summon can get discount after few years not paying. Somebody should claim their money back from rm 25 million discount by SAMAN IN COURT because that money is not belong to AA but to passengers who fly with AA. And also rm 6 million tax from people who cant fly AA which u can read from YB Wee above. If one person pursue the SAMAN, then will be many will bring AA in court and u know what will happen to AA. They have to payback to all passengers for the money not belong to them.
vinnie>>> are you referring to a Class action suit? to reclaim part of the RM25mil “discount” that was not paid to MAHB?? Mebbe if you are in some other country – it could be done, but NOT in Msia la….
remember, this airlines was “sold” to TF for RM1 from DRB-Hicom with the blessings of TDM. My hunch is that there are other hidden faces behind this ‘low cost’ monster… otherwise, how else to explain their “untouchable” position and clout.
No way in this country, can ANY business entity be so powerful without powerful backing and players. That is why AA-AAX can dictate their own terms and conditions and apply it to MAHB instead of the other way around.
Coming back to MAS ~ mebbe the current BoD ought to be removed and a new BoD be setup with Tengku Azmil reinstated and Tan Sri Aziz being the Chairman. This could be THE catalyst to regain everything that went so wrong in MAS. From an airline that flew to all 4 corners of the world, over 5 continents, more that 100 destination WORLDWIDE, the pride of a small nation GOING BEYOND EXPECTATION…. then came one dumb Sarawakian fella and changed all that to MH (Malaysian Hospitality). Now MH can more or less stand for Mental Hospital ~ with all the sick idiots pretending to work in the best interest of the airlines,
When you are at rock bottom, there is no where else to go but up and when there is nothing left… there is always HOPE, that thing can only change for the better!

Madey has been spewing sampah philosophy
daily. There is a surprising disquiet

where he has a finger in the pie!

.
1. Airport charges are regulated by the government, and it is the government’s decision whether to increase or lower the tax.
2. So MAHB is unable to come up with a black-and-white assurance that the charges will not increase.
3. So it does not make sense for the amount to remain the same as the costs definitely increase every year, especially in salaries and inflation and also to build better facilities to attract a lot more passengers.
AA can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.
Vinnie, like anti sissy said,MAHB has got no balls!
My name is T Pariah and I love n proud of myself as I ve no respect to others even the authority. My lidah is bercabang like ular n when i talk i ll putar belit like ular also. You people out there can also call me T Pariah the Ular !!! I don’t give a damn to Malaysian Authority such as MOT, DCA, MAHB, MP, etc got a chance to control MAS even short period). Who I cares as i’m a rich businessman. If possible i want to control MAHB, DCA, MOT for my own advantage to run the low cost cheated carrier. (1) If i control MAHB, the whole aport in Malaysia saya punya. Tak payah bayar aport tax ma .. !! sekarang pun saya collect the pax aport tax on behalf of MAHB but saya mana bagi sama MAHB. Saya delay delay kasi sama MAHB n get interest from bank. Tapi saya tak bolih buat di Indon tau. Itu Indon SITA saya punya kapal mcm itu majlis bandaran sita rumah tak bayar cukai pintu. (2) If I control DCA, senang lah saya buat law aviation in msia to suit my airlines opeartions. (3) If I control MOT, senang lah saya terbang n cancel mana mana routes saya suka. Saya bolih ambil profitable routes mas punya. tengok saya sudah dapat sydney, seoul, n banyak lagi maaaa. Jika route itu rugi saya cancel lah. apa saya kisah sama paid pax. penting saya tak rugi. semua pax bodoh apa !! saya juga bolih suroh MAS bodoh angkat saya punya pax at minimal cost n lagi best jgn bayar sama mas. (4) my dream to have mas. saya mahu in malaysia cuma ada satu airlines iaitu “AIR ASIA MALAYSIA” sama mcm kat negara lain Air Asia Indonesia, Air Asia Thailand, etc. 10 tahun saya operates mana saya ada facilities like hangars, w.shops, etc. IF i have mas, saya ada hgrs yg mas builts for decades n those will be mine just dgn sekelip mata. Lu org pikir lah mana saya mahu htr kapal saya untuk maintenance. mahu htr sama SAE, itu hangar mcm rumah ayam saja. for now kena lah htr tu singapore. mahallllllll lol. mana bolih tahan to survive in next 10 yrs. so, best that saya curi mas hangars. Ada 5 biji semua n with full facilities. Sekarang ada org saya di dalam mas tgh creating plot to make it bangkrap dan baru saya beli for air asia. Itu kan trade mark saya as T Pariah to buy over all the ailing companies. Lu org semua di luar bodoh ka n tak nampak ka saya punya strategies for my own goods.
aoooyyooooooo … amaci… papaci … jika saya mau list downs my strategies banyak lah. Tak habisssss lah.

‘tu kan trade mark saya as T Pariah to buy over all the ailing companies. Lu org semua di luar bodoh ka n tak nampak ka saya punya strategies for my own goods.”
Ha, ha T Pariah, you are very funny.
Yes MH is not Malaysian Hospitality but IJ has turned it to become Malaysian Hospital starting with the WAU. Do they think MAS can be managed efficiently by just using those jargons like WUA, MH etc they learnt in seminar rooms? These people appointed to lead are Con sultants who are only goods for talks in seminars and conferences. Yes they may sound impressive on the stage when they give talk but they never do the business themselves. What they talk on the stage are only based on their own analysis and understanding of what had happened. Even if they made wrong analysis or statement during their talk there is no implication or impact to the business they claimed to have knowledge. But when you appointed them to lead the business, the results cannot be hide and that is the reason you have MAS.It started with TS Nor believing in Con sultant. So he appointed AMOK who is a Con sultant. The rest is HISTORY. The people on the streets who do business know this and they know these people are talking rubbish. But why the Ministers and PM do not appreciate this is some thing which many of us do not understand.
Good analysis, Thong.
“But why the Ministers and PM do not appreciate this is some thing which many of us do not understand.” Senang bah, either they are playing dumb or really dumb.
YB it is not “Low Cost Mentality” but “Low Class Mentality”. Please ask that low class ex-minister who did she give the Federal Cable shares to when she was the Cabinet Minister?
Now that TS Sidek Hassan is out as KSN. She will be of not use to the pariah soon. She should stop fighting battle for the pariah. Let the pariah speaks for himself. The pariah is keeping a bit low profile now because he knew the nation and the government are fed up with his attitude. Of course, people like Ho Kay Yat of the Star will always be around to lick the pariah all the way. Hence the directorship in the Star. Never knew that the Star is so desperate and willing to allow its image destroyed just for the sake of revenue from advertisment.
Watch out for this 4th floor connected Ho Kay Yat.
agreed Thong.
All these Con sultants know only change logo,re branding, restructure, transformation, use of stupid jargons like ETP, etc. The era of Con sultan started during the sleepy PM. These Consultans have failed again and again for 10 years already. If they are medical doctors, all the patients they treated failed to recover and some died. Would you continue to see the doctors with failures track record? If you do you must be nuts. I believe that is the reason why MAS continue to incur losses after losses. I do not think it is that difficult not to be a NUT!!! DO YOU?
Padan muka kepada si Priah. Indonesia belum memberi kebenaran untuk memberli Batavia Air. Ka ka Ka!

Govt may review AirAsia’s Batavia deal

The government may cancel the acquisition of local airline Batavia Air by Malaysian airline, AirAsia Berhard, and its Indonesian partner, if the transaction breaches the ownership limit imposed on foreign companies in national airlines, a top government official has said.
The Transportation Ministry’s air transportation director general, Herry Bhakti Gumay, said AirAsia Berhard and its partner in the acquisition, PT Fersindo Nusaperkasa, had yet to report their acquisition to the ministry.
AirAsia and its Indonesian partner Fersindo, owner of a 51 percent stake in Indonesia AirAsia (IAA), signed an agreement on Thursday to buy Metro Batavia, the owner of Batavia Air, for US$80 million (Rp 756 billion).
“We will give Batavia, AirAsia Berhard and Fersindo Nusaperkasa one month to report their plan to us. We will cancel the acquisition process if Indonesia is not the majority shareholder,” Herry told reporters.
Herry said the ministry would not hesitate to “revoke Batavia Air’s SIUAU [flight permit]”.
According to the acquisition plan, AirAsia would own a 49 percent stake in Metro, while Fersindo would hold the remaining 51 percent in order to comply with Indonesian ownership rules.
Seventy-six percent of the shares are due to be purchased this year and the remainder by 2013.
Herry said, however, that the ownership status of Fersindo, which controls 51 percent of AirAsia’s Indonesian subsidiary IAA, remained unclear.
“They will not be able to execute their plan if they do not report clear information to us,” he added.
Previously, AirAsia Group’s CEO, Tony Fernandez, had said in a statement that the Batavia Air acquisition was a fantastic opportunity for AirAsia to accelerate its growth plans in one of the most exciting aviation markets in Asia; and that it further underlined its belief in the growth potential of Indonesia’s aviation sector.
Even though analysts might see the acquisition in a negative way, Tony said the partnership would help both companies to grow.
“This is a good marriage because Batavia Air is the jewel of Indonesia. We hope we can build something very special here; to increase tourism in Indonesia, and help more Indonesians to fly,” Tony told reporters at a conference.
Batavia Air’s president director, Yudiawan Tansari, said the company would maintain its name and its mid-range service after the acquisition.
Aviation expert and former investigator at the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT), Hana Simatupang, said the acquisition showed the growing dominance of foreign airlines in the national aviation industry.
The Batavia acquisition comes hot on the heels of Tiger Airway’s takeover of Mandala Air earlier this year.
“This is what I’m afraid of. Foreign airlines, through their subsidiaries, will come to control domestic airlines because they [domestic airlines] have failed to professionally manage their businesses,” Hana told The Jakarta Post.
conv. fees now become RM10 and fuel surcharge for domestic increases to RM15…so, rakyat tertipu lagi…
It’s started as ‘Now Everyone can Fly’ but now it had changed to ‘Now T Pariah Can Cheat Everyone’…mmg dasar penyangak!
Its ironic that some fail to see or pretend not to see..for just a nominal fee, they are willing to do all the dirty works on behalf of AA which are against their principles and worse still they are barking at their previous employer..the government.. Despicable!!
Kindly note that the airport tax for international travel at the LCCT is RM32. It is RM65 at KLIA.
