Today (19 June 2011) was the official opening ceremony of the Persatuan Penduduk Taman Setapak, Wangsa Maju. It was officially opened by YB Senator Datuk Maglin, the Deputy Minister of Information, Multi-Media and Culture. The Ministry distributed 1Malaysia notebook computers and books to several students.
The President of the Persatuan, Yg Bhg Datuk Latifah Bte Mohd Arifhah, has requested for four signboards to be put up by DBKL for Taman Setapak (one of which has been put by DBKL), a traffic light at the junction of Jalan Balau, approval for a pasar malam in the area and bus services.

I have informed the meeting that I shall attend to their requests. DBKL has greed to put up the remaining 3 signboards and installation of traffic light. I have contacted the management of Rapid KL and the management is looking into the matter. As for the pasar malam, previously there were objections from the residents. However, I will try my best to assist in the pasar malam issue. If all is well with the residents, the operator of the pasar malam must be appointed in a transparent manner.
I would like to thank the Persatuan for inviting me to attend its open ceremony.
Dear YB, Look forward to working with you on the request by the residence.
Best Regards,
Achhinda Singh.

Dear YB,
I am speaking on behalf of residence in Taman Ibu Kota kanan . We desperately need to have security service but are unable to do so as there are too many access roads . Is there anyway that we can together with the taman Setapak residence have like a gated community as robberies by parang weilding robbers are happening very frequently. My house was robbed twice in this 1 1/2 years. 4 men with parangs walked into our house when we opened the main gate. We need your help. We are terrified.

I am very sorry to hear about the security problems. Security is a national problems involving police. Not only Wangsa Maju is having this problem. It is more of the degree rather none.
More often than not the police force short of manpower. As for gated community you will need 75% of the people agreeing then only you can start a gated community. It is not easy because you have to organise a committee and to get approval from DBKL. When approved then you will have to get a security guard company and it can a lot cost money. Collection of monthly fees will be a big problem. You are bound to get some residents who refused to pay and at the same time complaining about the inconveniences caused by the gated community concept. These are the experiences I have gone through. I am not pouring cold water over it. I want to be aware of the possible problems.
Having said that you you must lodge a police report so that the police can check on the statistic and take the necessary actions. with the view to investigate and ask, and they have right to ask for more officer. Can you also let me have a copy of your report then I can follow up work with them to ask them to pet police to petrol the area more often. Can you please let me have your tel number so we can discuss this matter further. Alternatively you can call my assistant . His name is En Yakob phone number 012-2186929 or 41433322.
\Once again very sorry to hear about it. I know saying sorry about the incident is of no help. In fact during every session of Parliament I do ask for more police officers in our area. As I believe that police presence will make a different. I am at the service centre every Wednesday evening after 8 pm till late unless i got urgent meeting to attend too. Do come around ( pm and we discuss the matter.
Thank you.
