Parliament Questions Time, 3 March 2009

The Minister of Wilayah Persekutuan (YB Datuk Zulhasnan) replied to the points raised by me on 26 February 2009 as follows:

–   The road widening project in Jalan Gombak  4 km stretch commenced in May 2006 and it was supposed to complete within 26 months.  The total cost for this 4 km was RM31.8 millions.

–   The reason for the delay due the land acquisition exercise and other problems concerning TNB.

–   The said road widening project will be completed by 14 May 2009.

–   When asked about the road widening project in Jalan Genting Kelang, the Minister told the House that he did not have the answer and he will give me a written answer in due course.

–   On the issue of coffee shops and restaurants occupying parking lots with tables and chairs, the Minister agreed that such practices may pose a danger to members of the public.  He told the House that DBKL will take the necessary actions to stop such practices in Wilayah Persekutuan.  The Minster also requested the MPs to co-operate with DBKL by alerting DBKL of places where coffee shop and restaurant owners occupying parking lots with tables and chairs.

the fler is a waste of time and money.

his role is no different from a municipal head. ministers are suppose the head a function like finance, education, defense etc.

what the heck we need a FT minister when we have a Datuk Bandar? How much tax payers’ money been channeled to this redundant arm when health care, welfare and education is suffering from insufficient resource being allocated?

“The Minster also requested the MPs to co-operate with DBKL”

    – the minister got it wrong, DBKL suppose to co-op with MPs, from what I read from the press
    – and the ministers are setting a poor example at federal level by first inviting then retracting invitation to PR MP on that labour issue meeting

“by alerting DBKL of places where coffee shop and restaurant owners occupying parking lots with tables and chairs.”
    – don’t the officers know what “patrolling” means? what do they do? sit in the canteen the whole day waiting for complain and sit some more? Turun padang-lah!!!!!!!
