Hari ini adalah hari penghujung bagi bulan puasa bulan yang mulia ini, saya ingin mengambil kesempatan ini untuk mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri Maaf Zahir Batin kepada semua umat Islam di Kawasan Wangsa Maju dan seluruh Malaysia dan kepada semua sahabat-sahabat bukan Muslim sekalian Selamat Bercuti.
Saya amat berharap kepada saudara/saudari supaya berhati-hati di jalan raya agar kita semua dapat sampai ke destinasi yang dituju dengan selamat.
Sekali lagi saya ucapkan Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Dear Mr. Wee,
Last week, someone died murdered in cold blood.
An African, no doubt NOT a local Malaysian, but still someone who decided to come to our local shores to study because he deemed Malaysia safe and peaceful enough.
However, sad to say, he was stabbed by 20 local youths and because the taxis refused to send him to the hospital… he proceeded to bleed to death.
And now, he is not able to return to Chad in Africa and celebrate Aidilfitri with his 19 year old wife and 8 month old baby daughter.
He was murdered, MP.
All because he was an African… because he was deemed a “nuisance” and he was “black”.
Is there any way you can create an awareness for the people in Wangsa Maju especially in Desa Setapak to respect human lives and to curb hate crime from happening?

the Chad student being murdered. One of the factors is that we have too many youths who have no where to let off their energy. Watching the EPL World series on Astro, one of the things these star players do is to coach youngsters at night to “get them off the streets”
In the federal government or kementerian WP allocate funds to community centres where our youths can be coached to 1) play futsal 2) boxing (yes, with proper referees and protection gear) 3) speak takraw 4) badminton 5) pool 6) dancing to loud music etc physical activities that can let them run off steam
these facilities should come at subsidised rates because most of them might not have a lot of cash
It is better to use some tax money to keep them off wrong activities

To be honest, using federal funds to have community activities sound novel and good. But all in all, having activities to distract our youth from wrong attitudes is not the only way and the ultimate way to pursue change…
We should educate them, create awareness in our society. There is nothing wrong watching an EPL match if you have the time. Most of those who watch are those in their late teens or 20s… college students perhaps and young working adults. I don’t see a problem in that.
The problem lies in when race and colour are seen as a social stigma. We need to tackle that.
Use our tax money and build better schools, employ teachers who actually want to make a difference in the lives of their students…
er….Catherine, I am not saying watching EPL is wrong. I watch a lot of them. I was writing that the EPL World programme shows the football stars doing community work and we shouldlearn from them.
Yep, I agree with you on your points as well.
Our teachers should be better paid, supported and train.
