REMINDER: Members of the public have up to 30 August 2008 to register your objections regarding the KL Draft Plan.
At 9.00 p.m. this evening, a meeting between “Save KL Coalition” and the 10 Pakatan Rakyat MPs in Wilayah is held at the official residence of the Menteri Besar of Selangor.
On behalf of the 9 Pakatan Rakyat MPs, I would like to express our thanks to YAB Tan Sri Khalid, the only PKR Menteri Besar.
Areas of concern:
It is very strange that Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) has purposely withheld Volume 3 from the members of the public. I have questioned DBKL about this but they have not provided any answer.
The Federal government has a standing policy called National Physical Plan (NPP). It is the duty of all government departments and local authorities to strictly follow the National Physical Plan.
For example: NPP discourages increase in density. Everyone should get 20 meters of green area. If the KL Draft Plan is allowed to be passed as it is, then there will be no more green lungs left for our next generations.
Whilst members of the public are allowed to place their objections until 30 August 2008, Jabatan Perancang Bandar at the same time are APPROVING Development Orders when they are supposed to be FREEZING Development Orders.
The KL Draft Plan has been approved and gazetted. It is people-unfriendly and until this day Datuk Bandar still refuses to make public the names of the members of the Public Hearing Committee.
What is so secretive about the composition of the committee?
The 10 Pakatan Rakyat MPs in the Federal Territory will take necessary actions to stop the implementation of the KL Draft Plan.
The rakyat of Kuala Lumpur should come out in full force to registered your objections and unhappiness. Your voice will only be counted ONLY IF you will fill in the required forms provided at the various exhibition venues. Also get your friends, neighbours and families to be involved to save and protect KL!
It’s home to you and them and where all of you live, work and play. We all deserve a better KL surely!
Dear YB,
I suggest you hold a meeting of Wangsa Maju residents to brief us in detail the concerns. It will also enable the residents of WM to discuss amongst themselves and hopefully copies of the complain/objection forms can be on hand so that people can record their concerns immediately.
I proposed that a series of meetings be held at your service centre, the badminton hall at Taman Bunga Raya, etc suitable places for residents to meet up and discuss.
Guys, fellow WM people, what do you think?
Whatever objections posed by the public are of no significance because teh Hearing Committee will be 100% the Datuk Bandar boys so to speak. That’s why until now the Datuk Bandar is still not making public the name of the members of the Public Objection Hearing Committee. This is the bloody nonsense that this Datuk Bandar is doing.
This is the inherent problem of an appointed Datuk Bandar, who is not bothered by public opinion. We need an elected Datuk Bandar.
DBKL is crazy! How can you allow application for DO to go and approve them when the KL Draft Plan is receiving objections from public. Just imagine if DBKL approved an area for residential area and after the draft plan been approved and the same area was zone for commercial. Conflict of purpose, which is to prevail?
Jabatan Perancang under this Mahadi, the questionable character, is doing stupid things in this department. Stupid to us but not to him. You know why???
Mahadi is creating havoc for the development of KL. He should be sacked long time ago.
Mahdi Che Ngah, the Pengarah of Jabatan Perancang Bandar, should explain why Volume 3 of the KL Draft Plan was hidden away from the public eyes!!! Are there any secret that Jabatan Perancang Bandar and DBKL wanted to hide!
Where ids transparency in this stupid/Sleepy government?
WHY HIDE THE VOLUME 3??????????????????????
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I had a quick look at the city plan and remembered the ‘green lung’ in WM is a really small patch of green on the map. It’s probably that reservoir area on the way to Carrefour.
Also- DBKL has no business hiding that Volume 3 from the public- what nonsense. WM is getting more dense- the rise of apartments and condominiums; each morning Jalan Genting Klang is choked with traffic. It takes 20-30 minutes more to get to town during peak hours now compared to 10 years back.
I have no doubt in YB WCK’s ability; but I’m noticing the lost of fire in a few of the other KL MPs. We have only 10 of you in KL- every decibel of your voice is needed. More meetings like these should be held so that the KL team gels together. So far, the voice is not strong enough else we would have side lined that FT Minister and the bloody mafia DBKL. This is my sincere feedback.
Please check on the Development Orders granted by Jabatan Perancang Bndar to Platinum Victory. We are informed by reliable sources that many of the Platinum projects were not in strict compliance with the policies and rules of DBKL.
BPR must order Mahadi Che Ngah to declare his assets and then we can see more things. BPR must act now!
