Brother WeeAny trips to Europe or USA only translate to one thing. Shopping. I bet half of the time would be spent on sightseeings and shopping. Probably you could suggest to these nincompoops, if they desperately need to learn some obvious things overseas why not try Curitiba, Brazil, surprisingly recognised as one of the best planned cities in the world. Heck, even Europeans and Americans are sending delegates to learn from them.

Sir, May I ask if you can table on your next round of Parliamentary question, asking the whereabout of the billions of savings goes from the last round of fuel price increase, preferably with the account details of those money. If removing subsidies are done in a transparent and accoutable way (according to Najib last time, it will go to improve our public transport system), I’m sure many of us normal citizens would not mind that much.Thank you.Trying-To-Be-Reasonable-But-Pissed-Msian

Sdr & Sdri You will recall that the PM had assured Malaysians that a few days ago there will be no price increase for petrol. A few days later petrol price increased not by 1n or 2 Sen but 78 Sen. The PM did the same thing when he was asked whether Parliament will be dissolved and his reply was no way. The next day Parliament was dissolved. That is the the trait of a BN leader. I do not understand why the Government had to make such an announcement without notice. It would appear that the government was running out of fund! Well done! BARANG NAIK PARTY!

The price of rice has risen tremondously from RM135 to RM180(50Kg), I wonder how the poors are going to survive. Now, with the increase of the petrol of 41%, I just cannot immagine how many of us are going to struggle in order to run our family. I think I have to take a partime job just to cover the increase cost and expenses in our daily lives. Living will be difficult for us. The drastic oil price increase at 40% could have been alleviated if the federal government has a more holistic approach to the change. They have shocked the system without adequate compensatory steps in place.I am not talking about those rebates on road tax etc. I am talking about the entire distribution and supply chain in Malaysia from government approvals to the number of middleman, consultants, agents etc that is never transparent to the rakyat.Case in point is that how come when Najib “change your life style while PR says my wife shop in style” buys some stuff for defense of Malaysia, a huge chunk of funds goes to selected few as commission. Closer to heart of all, how come the fish you can buy in Kuala Lumpur seems starting to rot as compared to those you can buy in Kelang? What happened between that 50km? Nobody knows but I strongly believe if the entire distribution chain is out in the open, every business consultant worth his salt would be able to identify redundant points and leeches.Malaysia needs to be more competitive now. The national and individual income levels have to go up. Sure, a set lunch in Hong Kong looks astronomical at HKD50 (a soup, a slab of beefsteak and another price of pork chop plus trimmings rounded off by a huge cup of thick milk tea) but their people earn HKD20,000 above a month. We can bitch about rising prices but if we can earn more, then it would not be a problem. The government has to reduce the cost of business in Malaysia. Not only in the form of ax rebates but get ride of corruption, inefficiency and racist capital requirements. All these are pissing off foreign investors and our ringgit is not competitive anymore. Malaysian employers have to pay more, employ more locals and rely less on foreigners so that our income levels is reflective of Malaysian’s desired standard of living. Having excessive foreigners distort our wages level and cause a lot of leakages out of our country. By paying Malaysian employees more, their spending power would increase and it would go back to goods and services that we are marketing. There will be a crime wave in Malaysia starting from today. Cost of living for the criminals will force them to work harder but looking at our PDRM and health care services, I expect more tragedy after a tragedy. Mark my words on this. China Press will have more heart breaking cases to report.RegardsLee Wee Tak

DBKL just took action against the hawkers at Taman Bunga Raya this morning. This is a video of it today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwmcdkHL-gMAs for the fuel hike, I fully support it. It is unsustainable and the money for it is better spent on padi growing and public transport development using trams, buses & rail. Sadly for this round, they are just using the savings on food.

He warned Perak MB Nizar not to play with fire when awarding government contracts to the contractors.“Don’t play with fire. If the state government is good to us, we will be good to them too. “But if Barisan Nasional contractors are discriminated against by the state government, we will not hesitate to discriminate against their contractors too,” said Tajol Rosli, who is Perak Barisan liaison committee chairman.Source: TheStar: Be fair in awarding deals, Tajol tells Perak governmentWhat he probably means is that the govt contracts must be given to Umno contractors; otherwise he is prepared to discriminate against all the others. This is creed-based politics and is inherent and calcified within the corrupt and kleptocratic system of the Umno-centric Barisan Nasional.Quoted from: Cakap Serupa Bikin Blog

Sdr/SdriThank you so much for all of your comments. I do value all of them. I do appreciate the standard of our discussions, which have been very educational for me and others. Lets not allow the BN cybertroopers to distract us and destroy our goals for nation building. At this stage, I do not know the timing of the protest on 12th July. As soon as I got the information, I shall post them here. One of the measures that the PM has announced yesterday to ease the burden of Malaysian, was Government’s cost-cutting, which would include reducing overseas travel and the government officials involved. What a statement by the PM. The PM is the the only government official traveled overseas the most since he took over the premiership from October 2003. Do you agree that this is the statement of the year! The PM should also reconcile his above statement with the so-called “Working Visit” early June 2008 to Vancouver and Berlin by a group of officers from DBKL and Ministry of Federal Territory, and others, which was led by Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur and Zulhasnan, the Minister of Federal Territory. It is more than a 10 days long trip. If the PM really believe in what he was talking then the 10 days overseas visit should be restricted to a few officers from DBKL only as they are the officers responsible for administering KL. This Vancouver/Berlin trip was more of a holidays trip rather than working. This “holidays trip” is most scandalous to say the least. From the above facts, it is crystal clear that the PM is a master of political rhetoric. The government should not increase the petrol price because the petrol subsidy is one of the few subsidy that directly reach the ordinary rakyat, whereas other sO-called subsidies never reached the rakyat but the BN politicians, whom the BN government always classify as “RAKYAT”. A 41% price hike is an extra heavy burden to the rakyat, who have already been suffering from the non-performance of the BN government, which is led by incompetent PM and Ministers, who sway one thing one day and do another thing the following day. Please take note that all the PM’s public statement is only good for less than 24 hours. Examples: On 121-02-08 the PM said “Parliament will not be dissolved.” Parliament was dissolved on 13-02-08. On 04-06-08 the PM said ” No petrol price increase until August.” At 5 pm on 05-06-08 the PM announced 41% price hike for petrol. I just do not understand why was there a necessity for a PM to lie for less than 24 hours. Please remember BN stands for “BARANG NAIK”. If you want change for the better, VOTE for PAKATAN RAKYAT FOR A NEW DAWN FOR MALAYSIA. So please remember to turn up in full force on 12th July to express our disapproval of the policies of Barang Nail Party. Have a pleasant weekend to all.

May I remind everyone the Parliament is still simple majority consisting of BN. The Cabinet who met about the petrol price increase also consisted of BN ministers making that decision. This government is a Marcos-government. By the way, Badawi is the most travelled PM in Malaysian history. Cool huh.
