The joy and woes of Teratai Mewah

Now that my Service Centre is near complete, on early Sunday morning of May 11, I took it upon myself to fulfill my promise to the rakyat of Wangsa Maju. The joy of the exercise was to cover as much ground as possible to thank my voters, meet them and hear them out. I began with the territory at Teratai Mewah.

Overall, from my first-hand knowledge and the feedback I received wherever I went, the impression I got was that the people of Teratai Mewah and the constituency of Wangsa Maju had been grossly neglected.

The spontaneous out-pouring of complaints and grouses by the rakyat only highlighted the fact that the problems they faced in Wangsa Maju in general were not creations of a week ago nor a month ago. Their woes had been on-going sore-points of the rakyat for years and years past. To admit outrageous dereliction of duty by past representatives of the rakyat, at this juncture, would be an understatement.

I was told, in the past, many promises had been made by the authorities and these have not been delivered todate. For example, a 70 year-old grandmother told me that a zebra crossing was promised for many years but nothing happened. “How am I to cross the road? Do they want me to die?” she complained. However, I stated that I cannot categorically promise the voters something that I cannot deliver. Simply because we are not in government and we do not have the power and machinery to help us achieve them. However, I promised them that I will do my utmost best to serve and help them.

The voters were also aware that those people who had been attacking me in the press and asked me to get DBKL to paint their flats as “promised” were politically motivated. I also clarified that the rakyat who needed to solve their problems should come and see their MP and talk to him and not go to the press. The voters were receptive.

The ‘meet the people’ sessions were cordial and the voters understood my difficulties because I have to start from scratch. I also informed them that if there were a few persons having problems to please come to my Service Centre; and if they were many of them then I will go to meet them.

I also told them that outside of Wilayah Persekutuan every parliamentary constituency will have 3 State Assemblymen working together with the MP. Here we do not have that luxury. I stressed that we have to co-operate so that I can perform my work as a Parliamentarian and at the same time as a State Assemblyman. I also told them to visit my blog and post problems and to give me ideas.

All in all, the rakyat of Wangsa Maju were understanding and they vouched their support to help their MP in order to help themselves. For this, I am most thankful and it will encourage me to go the extra mile for the rakyat of Wangsa Maju.

Adakah mereka nak saya mati?” rungutnya.

Teratai Mewah Market at Jalan Langkawi. Pasar Teratai Mewah di Jalan Langkawi.

Would you believe it? There had been no running tap water at the market for years. The people had to make their own arrangement to tap water from elsewhere.
Percaya tak? Pasar ini tiada bekalan air bertahun-tahun. Orang sini kena mengambil air dari merata tempat.

I also did an on-the-spot collection for the Myanmar Cyclone Disaster Fund. Slightly over an hour, we collected RM535,00. One of our members and I topped up the sum and the final donation handed to a Malay Mail reporter was RM700-00. We are the citizens of the world and we must help in whatever way we can to victims of natural disasters.

These are awful sights. If tourists were to see these, they will have a bad impression of Malaysia. Further, such rubbish “dump” is a breeding place for rats and other pests. I will be calling upon DBKL to construct a rubbish dump / rumah sampah for Teratai Mewah Market.

Now we know why Wangsa Maju is infested with rats! The uncollected rubbish everywhere is their source for food. When we get rid of this ‘food source,’ the rats will die of hunger naturally. Let’s not try to solve the rats problem by putting the cart before the horse. Let’s get rid of the rubbish first – and the rats will disappear!

I also visited Kg Lee Rubber and had a dialogue with the Committee Members of Persatuan Kg Lee Kong Chian. Their president is Mr. Ng Chui Chong.
Saya juga melawati Kg Lee Rubber dan mengadakan satu dialog dengan Ahli-Ahli Jawatan Kuasa Persatuan Kg Lee Kong Chian. Presiden mereka adalah Encik Ng Chui Chong.

Wee,Somehow, when YBs shown their ‘concern’ to their constituents, I always feel that their attention are more for publicities rather than their genuine desire for looking after the interest of the people. And, they typically gone missing after elections.Keep up with your good work and the people will not forget as, in the internet era, we, the people have very accessible and long term memories.

Sigh. The previous MP of WM was sitting on his laurels. The people at Teratai Mewah don’t deserve to stay nor operate their business in these conditions. What’s the point of having an MP (the previous MP) who was in the the government then. The rubbish in the pics is a reminder to vote out BN entirely in the coming GE.To the critics of current MP of WM doing blogging- this blog is an important communication tool for Wangsa Maju community- not for the fun of it. It is a necessity to communicate issues, going-ons and work carried out otherwise we are kept in the dark.

Bros and sistersThank you for your comments and supports. Please be informed that DBKL have taken actions this morning to clear the rubbish at Teratai Mewah market and the surrounding. DBKL has also agreed to place 2 big rubbish bins for the use of the market. However, I have been informed by DBKL that previously it had placed rubbish bins there but building contractors and others have thrown their building debris. It was due to this reason that the rubbish bins were taken away. However, I requested them to place 2 rubbish bins because it looks better and cleaner. I have requested DBKl to have the rubbish area near Teratai Mewah Martket to be cemented.I sincerely hope that the people in Teratai Mewah must act responsibly by stopping those irresponsible from throwing building debris into the bins.We all must be responsible citizen to make Wangsa Maju a better place for all not only for the BN/MCA leaders and their cronies. Thank you bros and sisters. Lets make Wangsa Maju a better place. If BN, especially MCA, wants to play politics at the expense of the people in Wangsa Maju, let them do it and the people of Wangsa Maju must throw them out again in the 13th General Elections.

I went to the office of the previous MP of WM, hoping to sort out some outstanding issues prolonged since before the GE.Guess what, everytime I leave the office, I’m even more determined to annihilate MCA or better still, BN out of M’sia political scene.Their office’s uninterested, aloof, tidak apa attitude towards the consttuents problems makes one wonder why on earth MCA wants to get this ‘SAve MCA campaign’ going!MCA – retak menunggu roboh!!

Months before the 8th march 2008, a group of us (new home buyers in Wangsa Maju) approached the former MP (you know who) of Wangsa Maju and seeked help from him with regard to our property developer…until today, still no response from him.And YB Wee, you do what you say and we really appreciate your prompt action. 3 weeks after we approached you, you delivered what you promised. Well Done YB Wee.** thumbs-up!

Hello, You cannot blame the previosu MP for not doing much work because he is “buta huruf”! He cannot expect a form three student to do work of a graduate. You know that he was good in throwing chair to get to where he is today. The fact that you got elected in Wangsa Maju shows that the peoloe of Wangsa Maju trusted you due to your record and your stand against the useless MCA/BN. Keep up the good work YB Wee. I love all the photographs. They were good quality photos.

Terima kasih.

Sorry -out of topic.Wang Ehsan -RM3.76Billion channelled thru UMNO T’rgnu:Is this monstrous sum of money just to be allowed to disappear just like this? Is it something just for bloggers to write about and shout about? Is there no recourse that is opened to the rakyat? Can’t this be brought up in the parliament? Cant’ the newly-minted MPs from both sides of the aisle do something about it?PAC, NGOs, Auditor-general, anyone?

yeah, make some publicity of your ground work… not many ppl actually go to ur blog leh…1) make publicity abt ur blog2) besides posting online, make publicity on the ground as well.3) find a way so that all Wangsa Maju folks know exactly how to contact our MP when we needed ur help. My neighbours dun seem to know abt ur community centre leh…4) buff up the stupid police station. only 68 police personnel for 300000 folks is not enough. When we went there to make a police report (robbery, house break-ins, etc) what they do is just redirect us to the Sentul district police station. Crime in Wangsa Maju area is unbelievably high nowadays mainly thanks to the many construction projects going on. And when the constructors start renting houses in our residential areas for their indonesian workers, we felt threaten all the time. A few houses were broke in within 3 weeks time after the indonesian workers move in to what used to be a peaceful neighbourhood near my house. How can an area with less than 5 major crime cases in 1 decade suddenly became a top-target for burglars?Anyway, thank you for making an effort into solving the folks’ problems. Keep up the good work..

The chair thrower from MCA should learn from YB Wee instead of sabotaging his good work. That idiot who is huruf buta and never has the material to be an MP has been sleeping on the job all this while. YB Wee is now cleaning up his mess.It takes the brains of YB Wee to recognise that the rats problem of Wangsa Maju begins with the problem of uncollected rubbish. How true when we get rid of the rubbish which is food for the rats, the rats will die of hunger and the problem will be solved. The chair thrower from MCA can only use his pea brain to come up with ideas to catch rats and want to create publicity for himself. This chair thrower from MCA should just give up and go back to his old job as a book keeper. Even that I doubt he does a good job of it.This chair thrower from MCA has better learn. Being an MP takes brains, resolve and the will to work for the rakyat. Not strut about like a useless goon thinking that he is all important. His days of the rakyat should bow to him is over. This chair thrower from MCA is a has been and a dinosaur.I heard during the announcing of the election results he had already ordered 8 pigs to be roasted to celebrate his misconstued victory. When he knew that he had lost the election in Wangsa Maju he angrily cancelled the roasting of the other 6 pigs that were going to be roasted at the temple and buggered off in a huff. What kind of a man is this? Don’t know how to lose gracefully? His machais should take a good look at themselves and not continue to back a LOSER! In the first place when he can stoop so low to throw chairs at MCA meetings and behaving like a gangster speaks volumes of this idiot. Those who continue to back and smell the fart of this chair thrower from MCA are bigger idiots themselves. Wake up people before you are laughed off the streets of Wangsa Maju.Hidup YB Wee! Down with the chair thrower from MCA who should LOOk himself in the mirror and bugger off from the face of this earth. YTL you are a shame to Wangsa Maju and to yourself and the problems we are facing now are all your doing. Go and die lah, idiot.Don’t ever try to sabotage YB Wee’s good work or I will get my people to come and hound you. Be warn you chair thrower from MCA!

Bros and sisters,I am sorry that I have forgotten to give you an update on this matter because Parliament is in session. After this matter was highlighted in my blog, DBKl instructed Alam Flora to put up big rubbish bins for Teratai market areas. This will definitely keep the place clean and stop the RATS from easy access to food. When food is scare, there will be less rats. Therefore, I sincerely hope that we all should now put our rubbish in the rubbish bins to make our environment clean. On behalf of the residents in Wangsa Maju, I would like to thank En Khairul, the Pengarah of DBKL Wnagsa Maju branch, for taking prompt actions on this matter.Thank you DBKL. We are appreciative of your prompt actions.
